If you want your vocals to sound in tune without having to worry about music theory, simply set the VX5's scale to chromatic.
When doing so, the VX5 AutoTune will automatically tune your voice to the nearest note, no matter which key you've selected.
Musical scales such as major or minor use a limited set of notes that are chosen to sound good together and fit a specific song or key.
The chromatic scale, on the other hand, includes all 12 notes; like every black and white key on a piano. It covers every possible pitch.
So when the VX5 is set to chromatic, it doesn’t limit your voice to a specific set of notes. Instead, it corrects to the nearest of all 12 notes, which is handy for quick setups if you are unsure about the key of your song.
How to turn on Chromatic mode: Press the Key button, then under Scale, choose Chromatic.
Note: When set to the chromatic scale, the key selection is overridden.
