HeadRush | VX5 Autotune - How Do I Update my Firmware?

The AutoTune VX5 features a Day 1 Firmware update that is aimed at equipping you with expanded features such as the Compressor and Effects. This update is essential for accessing these functionalities.

Before installing the update:

Windows 10 and 11, and macOS versions 13 to 15 are supported to perform this update.

Please note: if using a Windows 10 PC, please first download and install this driver to allow the normal update process to work properly:

Update your VX5:

1. Connect the VX5 to a computer via USB and power it on.

2. In your web browser, type "VX5.local” in the address bar (the device must be connected and powered on). Alternatively, type "192.168.155.1" in the address bar.

3. Download the latest firmware update file by selecting “Download”. The file will be labeled as HeadRush-VX5-[version].img. Example, "HeadRush-VX5-1.2.2.img."

NOTE:

  • Due to the local connection, your web browser may flag the download before it completes. Please choose to "Allow" or "Keep" the download, or download the file directly from our downloads page here instead.
  • The update file is a .img file intended only for installation to the VX5. If you attempt to open the file on your computer, the system will report that the file is "corrupt". Please ignore this and continue these instructions to upload the file to your VX5.

4. To install the firmware, please click "Upload".

5. Locate the file HeadRush-VX5-[version].img in your Downloads Folder from step 3.

6. The upgrade process will begin, do not unplug the device while an update is in progress.

7. Once the update has completed successfully, you can disconnect the USB cable. You can confirm the version number on the VX5 splash screen.
